Pesda Press were represented at the Scottish Canoe Association event at Perth. There was a lot of interest in our forthcoming books, especially the 2nd edition of Sea Kayak Navigation which is due out by the end of November.
The Scottish show is good value in that it concentrates purely on canoe and kayak matters, is big enough to be worth attending and small enough that it remains user friendly. So what struck me as new an of interest this year?
Kari-tek
Kari-tek have developed a new roof rack system that combines their lever system and a winch to effortlessly put up to three kayaks on the roof of a high-top van.
Tiderace Sea Kayaks
A new exciting range of sea kayaks form that innovator Aled. He is obviously aiming at the ‘Maserati’ end of the market. The workmanship and materials used are fantastic and this is reflected in the price range with the top end spec coming in at just under £3,000!
Palm Equipment
Palm have a complete new range of drysuits. They have developed a complete range of gear cut for women (including a ‘pee funnel’ for use with drysuits)!
Valley Sea Kayaks
Valley have a number of innovations: a low volume Avocet which is bound to be a hit with smaller lighter people, a keyhole cockpit version of the ever popular Anas Acuta, and a number of new surf boats, the Rush+ for the larger paddler and the ‘Big Gun’ style Rip.
Pyranha
Pyranha were displaying the two extremes of the white water world. The new incarnation of the Everest, a big volume river running boat for big people and the Rev, avery short freestyle kayak.
Kayakfishinguk.net
On a very novel note kayakfishinguk.org were running workshops for paddlers interested in fishing from sit-on-tops and kayaks. The guys were doing a great job and were very impressed with the copy of Sit-on-Top Kayak by Derek Haron that I showed them.

I enjoyed the show as well. I also went along to one of the Kayak fishing demo’s. I couldn’t believe the amount of kit that those boys carry! Good to see the books are doing so well - looking forward to the new sea kayak navigation book. Ollie
Looks like a fantastic show!
Cheers,

What’s the strange inflatable looking thing with the padded cockpit rim in the extreme right of the Valley photo?
I don’t know where to start? Ray & I were dreading our first ever workshop presentation but once we got started we enjoyed it.

It was lovely to meet all those enthusiastic people & made a pleasant change from all those doubters we face as we try to promote our Kayak fishing sport around the UK. We met so many nice people that its difficult to single anyone out so I’ll just say a big thanks for the book. The paddling tips are great & I’ll promote the book via our site for you as well as link back
ps: we’re kayakfishinguk.net not seakayakfishinguk.org
pps: Peter thats an inflatable kayak, I had a good look at it yesterday & was impressed by the toughness of the material.
Thanks Andy, I’ve corrected the error.
Excellent show, very friendly atmosphere, plenty to see and do, thoroughly enjoyed it.
Looking forward to next years show already.
Have read your book twice now, very good indeed.
Plenty of info, with some excellent pics to accompany it.
For people looking at getting into the sport, or even already established kayaker’s, this book is definitely a must read.

Sweet. Can’t wait until these babies find there way into my store.
