Of course, we have known this for some time. We began with Doug Cooper and George Reid’s Scottish Sea Kayaking, Fifty Great Sea Kayak Voyages and soon we will have filled in all the gaps with guides to the Northern Isles of Orkney and Shetland, the Outer Hebrides, Argyll and the South West, the Northwest Highlands and then the rests of the Highlands & Island. That’s not forgetting Simon Willis’ Scottish Sea Kayak Trail, the first national trail of its kind. Enough of blowing our own trumpet, Adventure Scotland have put together a very nice fact sheet on sea kayaking in Scotland (click on the image below for a download link). At the moment the committee are gathering evidence about what sort of restrictions and disagreements there are from place to place, how they might be overcome and also evidence on the environmental impact of watersports (both buoyant and piscine), their income and any other anecdotal evidence. You can write to your constituency AM/MP and also log your experiences on the water on the <a href="http://www.welsh-canoeing.org.uk/access/incident_report.htm" rel="nofollow">WCA site</a>. Come along to the committee's traveling tour bus meeting in Betws or the other three locations this Friday and Saturday to contribute to the debate about how access legislation might best work, environmental impact and the overall costs and benefits.
